Fireflop

Is anyone else not loving Firefox 2.0 on a Mac? It hangs and spins the rainbow colored wheel at me too often and sometimes when I open a new tab I cannot enter anything into the address bar. Not only that, sometimes my space key doesn't work to scroll down the page. Nope, not loving it at all, even though the restore function brings me back to the pages that were open when it started hanging and forced me to quit the program.

What's this spacebar to scroll thing you speak of? What, no touch pad scroll area? No scroll wheel? I thought those Macs were supposed to be advanced. Sounds like they're stuck in the 90s. The spacebar is for typing spaces, not for scrolling.

Firefox 2.0 works fine for me on WinXP. Haven't had a chance to try it on Linux yet. My only gripes with it are that it checks for new add-ons at startup, which makes it start very slowly and it always pops up with the stupid restore function because I don't close out of it properly before shutting down my computer.

Yes, I have a touch pad scroll area. The whole touch pad is the scroll area actually. No scroll wheel though. They're SOOOO retro. ;)
But I like the space bar to scroll thing and it works sometimes, then stops working, leaving me tapping away at the space bar wondering what's wrong.
Gimme the 2.01 update already!!!

Egads, why would you use anything other than Safari!?

Safari? Isn't that Apple's proprietary answer to IE? Give me open source portability. Give me firefox extensions. Keep your proprietary, non-portable, non-extensible browsers. I use the same browser on three OSes, so I always have my favorite tools available and don't have to remember which things don't work in a given browser.

Well, YouWho, I guess I spend too much time with Chosen and am obviously easily swayed by his Firefox enthusiasm. And I really like the weather extension down at the bottom of the screen that was threatening me with a WINTRY MIX! forecast earlier today.

Wow, I didn't realize you lived with such a zealot. Give me a browser that renders most sites reliably and is quick, and I'm pretty well set. I've yet to be confused by how to browse the web on Safari at home after using IE all day at work.

Now if we're talking Thunderbird Chosen might have a point...
